Fire Restriction as of September 19th at 4:00 p.m.

Please be advised of the following Fire Restriction from Athabasca County that will go into effect at 4:00pm September 19th, 2025:

FIRE RESTRICTION

In accordance with Athabasca County Fire Services Bylaw 015-2023 section 8, a Fire Control Order is now in effect for lands within Athabasca County located outside the Forest Protection Area.

Due to increasing wildfire risk a Fire Restriction is now in effect.

Under this Restriction:

  • The discharge Fireworks and Exploding Targets is prohibited.

For greater clarity, this Restriction does not include:

  • Fires in Bylaw compliant Fire Pits
  • Fires in Bylaw compliant Burn Barrels
  • Off-Highway Vehicles (OHVs)

Campfires, while still allowed, are only permitted in designed fire pits and must comply with conditions listed in Section 7 of the Fire Services Bylaw. Agricultural operators are encouraged to routinely check equipment and have fire extinguishers readily available.

This Fire Control Order comes into effect at 4 o’clock p.m. on the 19th day of September 2025 and will remain in effect until amended or revoked by the proper authority of Athabasca County.
